Satan is a Hebrew word which means “Resister”. If the word Satan is used with the definite article “ha” in the original languages of the Bible, refers to the spirit person, which is called Satan or Devil. Satan, the devil is the chief Adversary of God.
Without the definite article the Hebrew word Satan refers for example to individuals as resisters of somebody.

Satan in the Greek Scriptures of the Bible

In the Greek Scriptures of the Bible the word applies in the most cases to the spirit person Satan the Devil. Usually accompanied by the definite article “ho”.
