What does the Bible say: is the Bible from God?
„All Scripture is inspired of God* and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, so that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work“ (The Bible, 2 Timothy 3:16, 17). The Bible writers „spoke from God as they were borne along by holy spirit„ (The Bible, 2 Peter 1:21). Because of this, the books of the Bible are „holy writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through the faith in connection with Christ Jesus„ (The Bible, 2 Timothy 3:15).
Benefits, if the Bible is God’s Word?
In the Bible we find a very beautiful hope for the future (Romans 15:4).
And trustworthy, satisfying answers to life’s big questions (Proverbs 2:1-5). The Bible can answer the question: What is the purpose of life? And how we get Happy? And: What is the truth about the Dead? What happens, when we die? And: Who is God Almighty and what is his name? And: Who is Jesus Christ?
The Bible: a light for our path
The Bible give reliable guidance for our life. „Your word is a lamp to my foot, And a light for my path„ (The Bible, Psalm 119:105). For example:
The Bible is the perfect guide to true happiness, peace, love and unity
The Bible can help us to lead a successful, meaningful life. The Bible is the perfect guide to happiness. Yes, the Bible contains timeless counsel for a happy life, happy families and a successful life. Jesus Christ said: “…happy are those hearing the word of God and keeping it!” (The Bible, Luke 11:28). Today many are convinced that the Bible was inspired by God, because of its guiding principles (Psalm 19:7-11). One young Jehovah’s Witness wrote: “When my family applied Bible teachings, we were truly happy. We experienced peace, unity, and love.” (from the Watchtower Study Edition September 2016, page 26, paragraph 11).
The Bible contains unique and important information
We can get important information from the Bible. And some information is even unique. Very important information is for example: What must we do, to receive everlasting life (John 17:3)? And: who is the Almighty God? We can learn that God has a unique Name. Which appears more than 7000 times in the Bible: Jehovah. And we can learn the truth about Jesus Christ. Which is also very important.
Can we really trust the Bible?
For different reasons we can really trust the Bible. We can really believe, what the Bible has to say. For example because of reliable prophecy, amazing harmony and honest history.
Proof that the Bible is a book from God: Reliable prophecy
The Bible contains numerous Bible prophecies, which were always fulfilled at the right time. And down to the smallest detail. For example: In the Bible we can read the prophecy about the destruction of the ancient city of Babylon. About 200 years before it happened. The Bible prophecy about the destruction of Babylon included details. The manner in which Babylon would fall. And even the name of its conqueror (Isaiah 13:17-22; 45:1-3). In the Bible we find also prophecies for our time. And can see the exact fulfillment in front of our eyes. What is more. We can learn what the future will bring. Humans are not able to prophesy correctly the future. Even the weather we can not prophesy for just one months with hundred percent reliability. So all these many prophecies in the Bible are proof, that the Bible is the Word of God. “For prophecy was at no time brought by man’s will, but men spoke from God as they were moved by holy spirit” (The Bible, 2 Peter 1:21). But there are more reasons, why we can trust the Bible.
The Bible: scientifically accurate and far ahead of its time
In the Bible book of Leviticus we find God‘s laws about hygiene and quarantine to stop disease from spreading. Long before people knew how viruses and bacteria causes disease. More than 3000 years ago the Bible accurately said that the Earth hangs on nothing (Job 26:7). Scientifically accurate and far ahead of its time. And at a time when most people believed that the earth was flat, the Bible referred to it as a circle, or sphere (Isaiah 40:22).
Proof, that the Bible is God’s word: amazing harmony
The Name of the Bible comes from the Greek word bi-bli´a. Which means „little books“. Originally the Bible was written in Hebrew with some passages in Aramaic (39 books) and in Greek (27 books). Together this are 66 different books. And the Bible was written over a period of 1600 years. From 1513 BCE to about 98 CE. By some 40 different 40 writers. Most of the Bible writers never met one another. Yet, the entire Bible is harmonious. With one central theme.
Proof, that the Bible is God’s word: honest history
Bible writers recorded honestly failings of their nation. And also personal failings. This is in contrast to secular historians. Because secular historians seem quick to cover over the defeats of their people.
The Bible is the most widely translated and distributed book of the world
Today many have no or only little faith in God. Yet the Bible remains a best seller. And is the most widely distributed book in the world. With a distribution of estimated 5 billion Bibles. The Bible is now available, in whole or in part, in over 2800 languages. The Bible is the most widely translated book ever.
